In a study conducted by John Dunlop, How Children Observe the Universe, outlined patterns of children's misconceptions with Earth-Moon-Sun systems. He conducted a survey with multiple choice questions concerning the Earth-Moon-Sun systems of 67 children between the ages of 7 to 14 from three different schools. Students were to visit the Auckland Observatory for the survey.  Students took a multiple choice pre-test on their knowledge of the Earth-Moon-Sun systems and a multiple choice post-test after effective teaching instruction which used three-dimensional objects, inquiry instruction, and student drawings. Here is a sample of the results of this survey with the use of proper instruction.
